Winnipeg, MB – At 6:31 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in an apartment building in the 0-100 block of Dalhousie Drive.
Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews rescued two individuals from the building. One patient was transported to hospital in critical condition.
WFPS crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:57 p.m. Most damages were contained to the suite where the fire originated; however, other parts of the building sustained some smoke damage.
Most occupants have been allowed to return to their suites at this time. The building’s management is coordinating alternate accommodations for the small number of occupants who cannot return to their suites due to significant damages.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
