Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Gallagher Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:18 p.m. on February 14, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey single family house in the 2200 block of Gallagher Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered the home fully involved with heavy flames and smoke. Unable to enter the house, a defensive attack was launched, using aerial ladders to apply water from above. The fire was declared under control at 10:30 p.m. Crews are expected to remain on scene into the night continuing to extinguish hot spots.

All occupants from the home were safely accounted for. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time but the home is expected to be a complete loss. One neighbouring house also suffered minor damage from fire extension.
