Winnipeg, MB – At 1:33 a.m. on November 23, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a side-by-side home in the 0-100 block of Dewdney Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from the home. Crews launched a defensive attack until they could transition to an offensive, interior attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:52 a.m.
Crews completed a search of the home and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The home sustained extensive damage.
At 1:48 a.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey home and a nearby barn in the 200 block of Gendreau Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the buildings. Crews launched a defensive attack. Both buildings are expected to be a total loss.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
