Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to arcing power lines near Devon Avenue and Roch Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:51 p.m. on October 22, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an arcing power line in the 200 block of Oakland Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered significant electrical activity coming from a downed power line near Devon Avenue and Roch Street.

The WFPS is working collaboratively with Manitoba Hydro to resolve the downed power line.

Nearby homes on Devon Avenue, Roch Street, and Oakland Avenue were evacuated out of an abundance of caution. Those evacuated have since returned to their homes. No injuries were reported.

Roch Street and Brazier Street are closed between McLeod Avenue and Devon Avenue while crews complete their work on scene.
