Residents invited to provide feedback on St. James area parks and recreation options

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents in the St. James area to provide feedback on options for allocating a proposed $1.4 million towards parks and recreation improvements in the neighbourhood to meet the needs of the community.

Proposed funding is intended to provide new, enhanced, or refurbished park and recreation amenities, including trails, lighting, security and greenspace, along Sturgeon Creek in the vicinity of 244 Hamilton Ave. (former Vimy Arena) in the St. James neighbourhood.

Area residents are invited to review the options and provide feedback online or in-person at one of our community workshops.

Community workshops:

Date: Monday, October 7, 2019
Time: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Location: Assiniboia West Community Centre, 861 Buchanan Blvd.

Date: Thursday, October 10, 2019
Time: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Location: Assiniboia West Community Centre, 861 Buchanan Blvd.

Format: Short presentation followed by group discussions

In addition to feedback gathered, the City will consider levels of service in the area, available operating budgets, and existing recreation amenities to make final recommendations to Council through the 2020 budget process.
