Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Agnes Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:21 a.m. on September 9, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in the rear of the 500 block of Agnes Street and McGee Street. Once on scene, crews encountered a well-involved fire in a garage immediately behind a vacant home on McGee Street. Crews immediately launched an attack while protecting neighbouring homes with additional water streams. The fire was declared under control at 8:46 a.m.

The garage involved was completely destroyed. The house on the same property, as well as both neighbouring homes all sustained fire, smoke and water damage. As well, moderate damage to outdoor property at two additional addresses occurred.

Crews conducted a search of the structure where the fire originated and no occupants were found. Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
