Winnipeg, MB – At 5:47 p.m. on August 31, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two storey house in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue. Once on scene crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched but due to deteriorating conditions, crews were forced to exit the house and transition to a defensive attack.

No occupants were found in the house. Neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
