Released: August 28, 2019 at 10:14 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 7:37 p.m. on August 28, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one and a half storey house in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene crews found a well involved fire which had spread to a neighbouring house which was also vacant. A defensive attack was launched until it was safe enough to have crews enter both homes to finish fighting the fire. The fire was declared under control at approximately 7:53 p.m.

Crews completed a search of both structures. They located two kittens in one of the homes and brought them to safety. The City’s Animal Services Agency attended the scene to care for the animals.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
