Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Pritchard Avenue fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:12 a.m. on August 18, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue. Initially, upon arrival on scene, crews launched a defensive attack while access to the house was gained. Once able to enter the structure, they transitioned to an offensive strategy. The fire was declared under control at 6:22 a.m.

Crews searched the interior of the house and no occupants were found. One firefighter who suffered an injury was assessed by paramedics on scene but did not require transport to hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
