Winnipeg, MB – At 8:27 a.m. on July 2, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single storey, multi-family residence on Lorne Avenue. Upon arrival, on scene crews encountered smoke coming from the windows and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 9:10 a.m.
All seven occupants of the residence self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One cat was located and brought to safety by firefighters. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
A WFPS vehicle sustained minor damage while on scene when another driver sideswiped it with their vehicle. Drivers are reminded to give emergency vehicles plenty of room, finding alternate routes whenever necessary.
