Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Alfred Avenue Fire

Released: June 25, 2019 at 9 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:58 a.m. on June 25, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to a monitored alarm in a vacant four-storey apartment building in the 100 block of Alfred Avenue. Upon arrival on scene crews encountered a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames. A defensive attack was launched as it was unsafe for crews to enter the structure. The fire was declared under control at 4:13 a.m. and at that point crews transitioned to an offensive attack to extinguish the remaining fire.

Once inside the structure, crews completed a complete search and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
