Winnipeg, MB – At 8:09 p.m. on May 23, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a one and a half storey house in the 400 block of Nairn Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy flames and launched a defensive attack. Once some of the flames were knocked down, crews were able to gain access to the house to fight the fire from inside. After transitioning to an offensive attack the fire was declared under control at 8:53 p.m. The structure sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage. Neighbouring homes were protected.
One individual was treated on scene by paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
