Winnipeg, MB – At 5:32 a.m. on May 16, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a fire in a vacant bungalow in the 1600 block of Arlington Street. Once on scene, WFPS crews launched an offensive attack and declared the fire under control at 6:08 a.m. The house suffered significant smoke, fire and water damage.
Crews conducted a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Selkirk Avenue Fire
At 7:03 a.m. on May 16, 2019, WFPS crews responded to reports of a debris fire in a vacant lot in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue. Once on scene, WFPS crews determined the fire was threatening a nearby home but confirmed it had not extended. Efforts were put in place to protect the home as crews worked to extinguish the fire. It was declared under control at 7:22 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Traffic along Selkirk Avenue will be impacted until crews complete their work on scene.
