Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Alexander Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:12 p.m. on May 5, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to a detached garage fire to the rear of an occupied single-family home in the 700 block of Alexander Avenue. The fire was reported to be threatening the home.

Once on scene crews were met with a well-involved fire. They worked to evacuate the home, and one neighbouring home while an attack on the fire was launched. The fire was declared under control at 10:33 p.m. The garage sustained significant damage. As well, an exterior wall of the house and a neighboring garage sustained damage to exterior walls. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
