Winnipeg, MB – The Living Prairie Museum, in partnership with Bee Better Manitoba, launched a new website this Earth Day to help conserve bees and other pollinators.
"When I was growing up in St. Vital I learned my grandfather had been a bee keeper in rural Manitoba - it seemed like something from a by-gone era," said Councillor Brian Mayes, St. Vital, "I am pleased to see that the City of Winnipeg has taken steps in recent years to ensure that bee keeping is part of our present and our future."
The new website, beebettermb.ca, provides residents with valuable information and detailed tips for creating pollinator habitat, including:
- Native plant species lists
- Examples of garden designs
- Pollinator FAQs
- Locations of existing pollinator gardens for inspiration
The site also introduces residents to the diverse array of local pollinators that are found in Manitoba’s natural and urban areas, discusses issues related to conservation, and details ways to help pollinators.
