Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Johnson Avenue West Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:10 p.m. on April 4, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment complex in the 300 block of Johnson Avenue West. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke and launched an interior, offensive attack, quickly extinguishing the fire. Damage was contained to a single suite.

Occupants of the building were evacuated by crews but were able to return to their suites once the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Magdalene Bay Fire

At 6:07 p.m. on April 4, 2019, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 0-100 block of Magdalene Bay. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke and launched an interior, offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:31 p.m. Damage from the flames was contained to one suite, however smoke and water damage was sustained in both suites.

Occupants of the building self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. One pet rabbit is reported missing at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Sargent Avenue Fire

At 5:03 p.m. on April 4, 2019, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment complex in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue. Once on scene, crews quickly located and extinguished a small fire. Damage was limited to the suite of origin.

All occupants of the building were able to self-evacuate prior to the arrival of crews. They were later able to return to their suites. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
