Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Beverley Street Fire

Released: March 19, 2019 at 9:24 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - At 7:26 p.m. on March 19, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 700 block of Beverley Street. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke, with flames extending to the exterior of the home. An interior offensive attack was launched and the fire was quickly knocked down, with the Incident Commander declaring it under control at 8:00 p.m. The home suffered significant fire, smoke, and water damage.

WFPS crews completed a full search of the structure and determined that no one was in the home at the time of the fire. Both neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated out of an abundance of caution. Those residents were able to return to their respective homes once the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
