Plowing of major streets, sidewalks and active transportation pathways to begin at 7 p.m. tonight

Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and keep back from heavy equipment

Winnipeg, MB – A city-wide snow clearing operation is anticipated to begin tonight at 7 p.m. Crews will clear streets, sidewalks, and active transportation paths, beginning with Priority 1 (P1) sidewalks and active transportation paths, active transportation routes (P2AT and P3AT) and adjacent sidewalks, and Priority 2 (P2) roads.

Crews are anticipated to clear back lanes beginning tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

Temporary closure of southbound lanes on St. James Bridge

Winnipeg, MB – Two southbound lanes on the St. James Bridge will be closed effective Thursday, November 11 at 6 a.m. until Monday, November 15 at 6 a.m. for bridge maintenance. A single median lane over the bridge to eastbound Academy Road will remain open; however, there will be no direct access to Kenaston Boulevard from the bridge. Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes such as the Maryland or Moray street bridges to cross the Assiniboine River and access Kenaston Boulevard.

Curbside yard waste collection season ending

Winnipeg, MB – Curbside yard waste collection for 2021 is coming to an end.

  • Yard waste collection in “area A” will end the week of November 15 – 19, 2021
  • Yard waste collection in “area B” will end the week of November 22 – 26, 2021

Residents are reminded there will be no collection on Remembrance Day (Thursday, November 11). If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, your recycling, garbage, and yard waste will be collected one day later for that week only.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Leila Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:18 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 400 block of Leila Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:50 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Fortier Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 200 block of Fortier Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 9:14 a.m.

There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Pritchard Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:39 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 12:31 p.m.
