Millennium Library celebrates 10 years with performances and a Maker Faire

Winnipeg, MB - It’s been 10 years since the Millennium Library, 251 Donald Street, opened its doors following an extensive renovation and transformation from the previous Centennial Library. Since then, over 10 million visitors have entered its doors to take in programs and workshops, have questions answered, borrow materials, study and research, access free WiFi and computers, and so much more.

To celebrate a decade of outstanding service, the Library will be hosting special events at the Millennium Library.

An Evening with Miriam Toews
Wednesday, November 4 at 7:00 p.m.

Birthday Bonanza Story Time!

Writer-in-Residence Reunion

About Millennium Library
Millennium Library is Winnipeg Public Library’s main branch, located at 251 Donald Street in downtown Winnipeg. In 2014, the Library had 1,030,250 visitors and library staff answered 114,200 questions from the public. The Library has over 386,000 books, magazines, audiobooks, video games, movies (DVD and Blu-ray) and music (CDs and sheet music) and more available to borrow. Over 1 million items were borrowed in 2014. The Library also has study and meeting spaces, computers for use and free WiFi, and also offers over 525 free workshops, concerts, film showings and programs every year. Unique programs and services of the Library include a Writer-in-Residence, a Social Worker, and story time for hard of hearing and hearing impaired families.

Centennial Library opened May 4, 1977. From 2003 to 2005, the Centennial Library underwent a complete renovation and extensive addition, reopening as the Millennium Library on November 8, 2005. The Millennium Library is a signature building in downtown Winnipeg. The Library has won several architecture awards including the Canadian Architect Award of Excellence in 2004, Prairie Design Award of Merit in 2006 and the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture, 2008.
