Public invited to open house regarding Polo Park area infrastructure improvements

Winnipeg, MB - The public is invited to an open house about a major road works project to improve traffic flow, ease congestion and delays at intersections, encourage active transportation, and improve pedestrian accessibility in the Polo Park area.

At the open house, residents will be able to review the detailed project design, discuss the construction plans and measures that can be taken to lessen impacts to area businesses, residents, and commuters, ask questions and provide feedback.

When: Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Polo Park Shopping Centre, Centre Court

What: Drop-in format

The project, funded by the City of Winnipeg and Province of Manitoba, includes:

  • extend/widen St. Matthews Avenue from Route 90 to St. James Street;
  • widen St. Matthews Avenue from St. James Street to Empress Street;
  • widen St. James Street from Maroons Road to Ellice Avenue; and
  • intersection improvements at Ellice Avenue/St. James Street and St. Matthews Avenue/St. James Street.

Construction is to begin in 2014 and scheduled for completion in 2015.
