Statement on Behalf of the CAO Hiring Committee

Released: May 1, 2014 at 1:13 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - As mandated by Provincial legislation through The City of Winnipeg Charter, it is the duty of Executive Policy Committee to recommend to City Council individuals for appointment as statutory officers such as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

On October 22nd, 2013 City Council additionally approved a motion by Mayor Sam Katz and Councillor Russ Wyatt to include 2 non-EPC members on the hiring committee.

On January 13th, 2014 a contract was awarded to Organization Consulting Limited to conduct an extensive search and recruitment process for a new CAO.

The goal of the hiring committee was to deliver a recommendation to City Council in a timely fashion, but the committee has decided to postpone the recruitment process until after the Civic Election citing the time constraints of delivering a suitable candidate prior to the election.

The acting CAO Deepak Joshi will continue to serve in this role.
