Mayor Katz Statement Regarding Jason George's Participation in Superbowl XLVIII

Released: January 31, 2014 at 2:12 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - This weekend, former Winnipegger Jason George, assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Denver Broncos, will be helping his team battle for the title of Super Bowl Champions.

Today it is a great pleasure to extend congratulations on behalf of the City of Winnipeg to Jason George as he heads to Super Bowl XLVIII with the Denver Broncos. The Super Bowl is the highest level of professional football in the US - it is a rare honour to be able to extend best wishes to one of our own taking part.

It gives me great pride to know that Mr. George's passion for the sport and coaching career began in Winnipeg, and that he still maintains close ties to the community.

I am sure that Winnipeg sports fans, including Mr. George's former St. Vital Mustangs teammates, are celebrating his career achievements and wishing him the very best as his team prepares to face the Seahawks this weekend.

Mayor Sam Katz
