Winnipeg is a city that has deep connections to Ukraine, both as a result of immigration and its Sister City Friendship Agreement with Lviv that was established in 1973.
November 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the Winnipeg - Lviv Sister City Friendship Agreement. Over that time, the cities have fostered a collaborative connection and a range of cultural, educational, recreational and economic benefits and opportunities.
This year, Mayor Scott Gillingham and Mayor Andriy Sadovyi of Lviv will sign a new agreement to renew the sister city commitment.
