To mark the 50th anniversary of Winnipeg’s sister city relationship with Lviv, Ukraine in 2023, Mayor Scott Gillingham announced a $15,000 contribution from his office budget will be going to the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center in Lviv.
Lviv City Council has identified the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center as their project of choice for Winnipeg to support. The Centre is a place where adults and children affected by the war receive comprehensive qualified medical care. It includes reconstructive surgery, orthopedics and robotic prosthetics. The project is implemented by the First Medical Union of Lviv and the Lviv City Council with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Those wishing to donate to UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center can do so through the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF), a registered charity in Canada since 1995, following the link below or by mailing a cheque.
CUF with its partner organization the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) are supporting the UNBROKEN program as one of the pillars of its joint Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal (UHA) launched at the end of January 2022 to coordinate the provision of humanitarian assistance quickly and efficiently to civilians impacted by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
