Library room rental fee waivers

The library will consider requests to waive the room rental fee for meetings and events held by non-profit organizations that meet criteria.

Applicants must request a fee waiver when booking.

All four criteria must be met:

  1. The group has proof of being a non-profit organization.
  2. The event is free to attend.
  3. The event has a recreational, healthy living, cultural or educational purpose.
  4. The event is for persons at risk, persons with a disability, and/or low-income individuals.

LIMITS: Fee waived rentals are limited to four bookings per organization, per calendar year, per library.

A booking is a reservation for a room on a particular day. For example: booking a room for 3 hours on one day, and 7 hours the next day, equals two bookings in total.

Organizations and their events that meet criteria can:

  • book multiple days and ask for four of the days to have the fee waived.
  • book at multiple libraries. Example: you may have up to 4 fee-waived bookings at one branch, and request another 4 at a second branch, etc. The limit is per branch only and cannot be carried over to another branch.

Fee waiver requests cannot be carried over year to year.

Individuals are not eligible for room rental fee waivers. Fee waivers can be granted by the Branch Head or designate only. The library will try to provide as timely a response on requests as possible.
