Winnipeg, MB – We’re on the job to keep our water quality high.
Our annual water main flushing program will resume May 13. Crews will start their work to help preserve water quality in southeast Winnipeg.
“This program is an important part of taking care of our water distribution system,” said Ross Eadie, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Water, Waste and the Environment. “Flushing helps our underground water pipes stay in good shape. It’s how we make sure Winnipeggers can continue to have safe, high-quality water every day.”
“Flushing water mains lets us test the water distribution system to make sure it’s running smoothly and reliably,” said Mike Szmon, Manager of Water Services. “It’s routine but important work that helps the system stay in good shape.
Crews will first flush water mains in the neighbourhoods of St. Boniface East and St. Boniface. They will work their way around the city until the end of August, focusing on:
- St. Vital North
- St. Vital South
- Transcona
- Parts of River East South and East
We will notify affected households two to four days before we start flushing work. The notice will provide information about what to expect before, during, and after the work is done.
Winnipeggers can also find out when crews will be flushing the water main on their street using the live map on MyUtilityInfo.
