Winnipeg, MB – Following along with what’s happening at City Hall just got easier.
Today, we launched a new Decision Making Information System (DMIS). The new system is a more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly portal for all City Hall meeting agendas, reports, and minutes.
“This is about improving service delivery and making City Hall records more accessible than ever,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “Whether you want to track a specific report, set reminders for agenda items, or better understand how to get involved, the new DMIS makes it easier for Winnipeggers to follow the decisions that shape our city.”
People can now set reminders to track specific agenda items as they move through the committee process. The enhanced search feature allows users to find what they are looking for faster and more reliably. Information on how to engage with City Hall is now more prominently displayed.
“I encourage residents to explore the new DMIS to see what’s before City Council and Committees and how they can participate,” Devi Sharma, Councillor for Old Kildonan and City Council Speaker. “Registering as a delegate or submitting written comments are meaningful ways to help shape the decisions we’re making at City Hall.”
The old system was nearly 25 years old but contained some records as far back as 1990. We’ve moved them all to the new DMIS.
“Decades worth of history at City Hall is housed in our Decision Making Information System and it was important we made sure it all remained accessible,” said Carlos Gameiro, City Clerk. “We hope even more people will use DMIS to follow along with decisions that impact them.”
The previous system ran on outdated technology. It’s now modernized, meets web accessibility standards, and is mobile-friendly.
“We’ve completely rebuilt our Decision Making Information System to make it faster, easier, and more accessible to use on any device,” said Marceli Walczak, Director of Innovation & Technology. “The improved search uses modern technology to help users find relevant reports, agendas, and minutes quickly.”
Funding for the DMIS replacement project was approved by Council as part of the 2024 Budget.
