Winnipeg Transit extends its transfer window

Released: October 2, 2025 at 11:15 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Transit is adding 15 minutes to its transfer window.

Starting Monday, October 6, transfers will be valid for 90 minutes. This is an increase from the previous limit of 75 minutes.

Winnipeg Transit is making this change based on passenger feedback.

Passengers have voiced the need for a longer transfer window since the launch of the new network.

“We’re continuing to make changes to transit based on what riders tell us,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “Extending the transfer window is one more step in a series of improvements to make the system more convenient and reliable for Winnipeggers.”

“I want residents to know that their calls and feedback are critically important. Today, we are acting on the requests to increase transfer times,” said Councillor Janice Lukes, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Public Works. “The spine-and-feeder model is the foundation of the Primary Transit Network, and transfers are core to this network design. We are very pleased to be implementing an increased transfer window starting Monday, October 6.”

Passengers can request a transfer from operators when they board a bus and pay their fare. Transfers are valid from the time issued. They can be used on any regular bus route, including On-Request, until expiry.
