City of Winnipeg seeking feedback as part of development of Greenspace Plan and Biodiversity Policy

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg residents are invited to share what they value most about greenspaces and natural areas in our city through an online survey. Feedback will be considered by the City as part of a new Greenspace Plan and Biodiversity Policy being developed to help manage, protect, and restore natural areas while increasing biodiversity within the city.

Greenspaces and natural corridors play a vital role in our lives. We rely on nature for food, shelter, clean air, clean water, recreation, and well-being. Greenspaces and natural corridors are any areas within Winnipeg with grass, trees, and other planted or natural vegetation. Examples of these areas can include riverbanks, parks, golf courses, cemeteries, forests, yards, retention ponds, trails, school yards, boulevards, meadows, or wetlands.

The Greenspace Plan survey is available until Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at winnipeg.ca/greenspaceplan.

The City has partnered with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations to co-develop the Greenspace Plan. The Greenspace Plan and Biodiversity Policy are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
