Winnipeg, MB - Water crews are working to repair a large water main break on Dawson Road North between Marion Street and Lagimodiere Boulevard. This water main break was the cause of the closure of Marion Street between Dawson Road North and Lagimodiere Boulevard early this morning.

All lanes on Marion Street between Dawson Road North and Lagimodiere Boulevard, and Dawson Road North between Marion Street and Lagimodiere Boulevard, are open and will be maintained while repairs are being completed. Crews are on site and we hope to complete the repair by the end of the day.

Crews worked quickly this morning to clear the streets of water and sanded and scraped the street before re-opening it to traffic at around 9:30 a.m.

Area residents may notice discoloured water as a result of this water main break. Residents that notice their water is discoloured should:

  • Turn on a cold water tap and let the water run for a few minutes. It is best to use a bathtub tap as there is no screen to trap any sediment.
  • Catch some water in a light-coloured cup. If the water isn't clear, turn off the tap, wait 30 minutes and try again. Discoloured water usually doesn't last long. If the water still isn't clear after waiting two to three hours, contact 311, open 24 hours every day.
