Pick up a lawn sign to help make our roads safer

Lawn sign with message 'Slow down. We play here.'
Lawn signs help make people more aware of road safety issues. They can remind drivers to slow down and stop for pedestrians.

We’re spreading the road safety message from the lawns to the streets this summer. We’ve created lawn signs to remind drivers to slow down and watch out for people walking in the neighbourhood.

The bilingual signs are free for residents. There are two designs to pick from. One features a person walking a dog with the message ‘Slow down. We live here. / Ralentissez. Nous vivons ici.’ The other shows children playing with the message 'Slow down. We play here. / Ralentissez. Nous jouons ici.'.

You can help make your street safer by picking up a lawn sign at one of six locations:

  • Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex
  • Elmwood Kildonans Pool
  • Fort Rouge Leisure Centre
  • Margaret Grant Pool
  • Sergeant Tommy Prince Place
  • St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool and Fitness Centre

We ask that each household only take one. The signs will be available while supplies last.

Lawn signs should be displayed from April to October. Please be mindful about where you place the sign and don’t block the sidewalk or road.

We hope these signs will continue to be used each summer. You can extend their life by storing them indoors over winter.

This initiative stems from the Winnipeg Road Safety Strategic Action Plan. It is just one of the ways we are working to make roads safer.
