New map for you to track snow clearing progress

Find out where operations are underway, completed, or upcoming

We now have a one-stop shop for you to learn everything about winter maintenance at any location in Winnipeg.

Our new snow operations map combines information about snow clearing plans, winter parking bans, and plowing status on streets, pathways, and sidewalks.

It displays near real-time information in an easy-to-use and interactive way. The map is also screen-reader-friendly.

The information is yours with the click of a button – all you have to do is enter an address.

“We built this map to help Winnipeggers get more information about winter operations and more quickly,” said Michael Cantor, Manager of Streets Maintenance.

“While we can’t be everywhere at once, we can help Winnipeggers see exactly what’s happening wherever they’re going.”

Snow clearing progress

The new map shows detailed snow clearing information – with minimal lag time – for every street, sidewalk, pathway, and back lane in the city.

You can find out if we’re planning a major plowing operation, what we’ve already cleared, and when we’ll be coming to you – information that can be critical to whether people are able to leave their house when it has snowed.

“We know it’s harder for people walking and biking to navigate snowy sidewalks and pathways,” said Cantor. “We hope this new map will help make their trip planning easier by showing whether we’ve cleared their way.”

Parking ban information

The map also displays all current and upcoming parking bans. This will help Winnipeggers plan their parking and hopefully prevent tickets and tows.

Fewer people parking on winter routes will also help us clear snow more effectively from this critical infrastructure.

Interactive search features

We designed the map to be interactive so you can easily find the information you are looking for. You can:

  • Zoom in to any area of the city
  • Use the search bar to get details for a specific address
  • Filter to see targeted information, whether you’re a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist
  • View current or upcoming parking bans

Up-to-date information

Our field staff play an important role in getting you the information you need about snow clearing. Throughout the day, they tell us what they are seeing on the streets. This information is then updated on the map.

We also use real-time data to update parking ban information.
