Winnipeg, MB – At 11:57 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of an explosion in a two-storey apartment building in the 300 block of Clare Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews found damage to the building. Firefighters conducted a thorough assessment to identify any ongoing hazards, including the possibility of a fire resulting from the explosion. No additional hazards or fire were found.
The building was evacuated as a precaution. One person was assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require transport to hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The City’s Emergency Social Services team attended to provide temporary support to residents displaced by the incident.
The incident is under investigation, but preliminary observations suggest the explosion was accidental.
