Winnipeg, MB – Bigger changes than usual are coming when we launch our winter schedule on Sunday, December 14.
With the seasonal schedule change, Winnipeggers will have access to late night service in most On-Request zones. We will also provide additional service to routes with lateness and capacity issues. These changes are a direct result of the great feedback we have received from residents since the launch of the Primary Transit Network.
“Winnipeggers have been clear about what’s working and what needs improvement,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “Winnipeg Transit is using that feedback, along with what they see on buses and at transit stops every day, to keep improving the new network.”
“Thank you to all the residents who have provided feedback on how to improve our transit system. The winter schedule incorporates much of what you've shared," said Councillor Janice Lukes, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Public Works. "Please continue sending your feedback to Winnipeg Transit over the winter. This will guide staff as they begin working on updates to the spring schedule."
To address gaps in night service as soon as possible, we are adjusting hours in 10 On-Request zones:
- All zones that currently operate after 7 p.m. will extend service until around 2 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays
- On Sundays and holidays, those zones will operate until around 12:45 a.m.
- Boundaries for Zone 103 will also expand so passengers can take On-Request to Garden City Shopping Centre and Walmart
- Hours for daytime-only On-Request zones (104 and 110) will not change
We’ve also rewritten schedules for buses that were regularly late and added capacity to routes that were regularly full.
Here are the key details of other changes coming December 14:
- Full rewrites of schedules for D12, D13, D16, and F8, with 49 service hours added to these routes on weekdays
- New trips added to six school-serving routes experiencing capacity issues
- An extra before and after school trip for routes 557, 649, and 678
- An extra before school trip for routes 442, 694, and 885
Here is the list of all routes with schedule changes beginning December 14.
