Winnipeg, MB – We’re inviting residents and road users to share their feedback on a proposed temporary bike lane design for Wellington Crescent between Academy Road and Stradbrook Avenue.
The Wellington Crescent Walk Bike Project – Interim Solution is a quick-build project aimed at improving safety and comfort for everyone using the street, including people walking, cycling, and driving.
It responds to Council direction to work with Wellington Crescent residents to find a temporary solution that could be in place until funding is available for a larger walk-bike study and permanent solution.
“This section of Wellington Crescent is one of Winnipeg’s most popular routes for cyclists, but it’s also a busy commuter street,” said City Councillor Janice Lukes, Chair of Public Works. “We want to find a design that balances safety with neighbourhood and traffic needs, and that’s why we’re asking for feedback before anything is built.”
While this solution wouldn’t be in place forever, it does require some changes to driving lanes, parking, and traffic flow.
We want to know how our design for the temporary bike lanes might affect people. We’re especially interested in how the design could affect property owners’ loading, deliveries, accessibility, building access, and safety.
Residents can learn more about the draft design at winnipeg.ca/wellingtonwalkbike.
The website includes an animated video that illustrates the draft design. People can provide feedback via an online survey before December 12, 2025.
What we hear will help us make the temporary bike lanes work as best they can for everyone.
