Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on William Avenue, William Newton Avenue, Talbot Avenue and Juno Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to four overnight structure fires.

William Avenue fire

At 5:31 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, WFPS responded to a fire in a vacant, two-and-a-half storey residence in the 500 block of William Avenue. The fire was discovered and reported by an on-duty WFPS crew driving through the area. They noticed smoke coming from the building.

Firefighters entered and launched an interior fire attack. The fire was declared extinguished at 6:01 a.m.

Firefighters searched the building, and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available. The building was damaged by previous fires in September 2025, and August 2025.

William Newton Avenue fire

At 4:19 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant structure in the 400 block of William Newton Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found smoke coming from a single-car garage. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.

The house on the property was demolished in March 2025.

Talbot Avenue fire

At 2:05 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Talbot Avenue.

Responding crews found smoke and flames coming from the house. They entered the building and fought the fire from the interior. The fire was declared under control at 2:51 a.m.

Crews searched the house, and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.

Juno Avenue fire

At 1:20 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, WFPS responded to reports of a fire at a vacant property in the 100 block of Juno Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a shed on the property, with fire extending to an adjacent garage and fence.

The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.

Vacant Buildings

If you see someone actively entering a vacant building or removing boards from windows or doors from a building, call 9-1-1 to report the incident immediately.

If you notice boarded windows or doors that have been breached, but you do not see someone actively entering or trying to enter the building, report the incident to 311 by phone or online.
