Winnipeg, MBThe Windsor Park Golf Course is now 100 years young.

An anniversary celebration took place at the course this morning, exactly 100 years after it first opened.

"Windsor Park Golf Course shows what’s possible when we invest with future generations in mind,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. "A century later, it remains a popular destination for local golfers and skiers, and a reminder to keep building a city that stands the test of time."

Golfers can get in on the celebration with a special, limited-time anniversary rate. With a nod to the course opening in 1925, golfers can play for $19.25 per round from July 30 to August 4.

“Winnipeggers from all walks of life have enjoyed golfing at Windsor Park Golf Course over the last 100 years,” said Brian Mayes, Councillor for St. Vital. “It’s a special place for St. Vital, and for golfers of all levels and ages – myself included.”

“This course has enriched the lives of generations of Winnipeg residents – not only for golf, but also for its scenic cross-country skiing trails,” said Matt Allard, Councillor for St. Boniface. “Windsor Park Golf Course has been a cherished part of Winnipeg’s landscape for a century.”

“The course has offered generations of residents a place to connect with nature and community,” said Hazel Borys, Director of Planning, Property & Development. “We are proud to offer an inclusive, welcoming space for all Winnipeggers.”

Golfers can reserve tee times at winnipeg.ca/golf or by phone at 204-986-3006.

People can also donate to leave a legacy at the course during this special anniversary season. More details about planting a commemorative tree or purchasing a park bench are at winnipeg.ca/windsorparkgolf.
