Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Sargent Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a high-rise residential building in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue.

At the scene, firefighters found a person who needed immediate rescue from a window. Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the person from the window while other firefighters attacked the fire. Crews declared the fire under control at 12:23 a.m.

Paramedics assessed one patient, transporting them to hospital in stable condition. Winnipeg Transit responded to the scene to provide temporary shelter for residents who were temporarily displaced.

The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
