Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Higgins Avenue, Logan Avenue and Aberdeen Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – Since last night, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to three structure fires.

Higgins Avenue fire

At 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 0-100 block of Higgins Avenue.

At the scene, crews found smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters used a defensive attack until they could safely use an offensive strategy. Firefighters declared the fire under control at 11:23 p.m.

No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Logan Avenue fire

At 1:32 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a commercial building in the 600 block of Logan Avenue.

At the scene, crews found a building on fire with heavy smoke and flames. Crews called for two more pumps and an aerial ladder in addition to the crews dispatched. They also deployed the drone for situational awareness.

Firefighters used a defensive strategy, spraying water from the outside. Firefighters are arranging for an emergency demolition of this building in order to fully extinguish the fire and ensure there are no hot spots remaining.

No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.

Aberdeen Avenue fire

At 7:19 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant and boarded house in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

At the scene, firefighters found flames and smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 8:17 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Vacant Buildings

Call 9-1-1 if you see someone actively entering a vacant building or removing boards from a building’s windows or doors.

If you notice boarded windows or doors that have been breached, but you do not see someone actively entering or trying to enter the building, report the incident to 311 by phone or online.
