Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Redwood Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:39 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in an apartment in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw smoke coming from the building and several occupants who needed help to leave the building.

Firefighters rescued six residents from the building through a window as it was not safe for the residents to leave through the building. At the same time, other firefighters attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 8:10 a.m.

Paramedics assessed eight patients, transporting three of those patients to hospital in unstable condition.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team responded to the scene to provide temporary support for residents. Winnipeg Transit provided a bus for temporary shelter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
