Released: September 5, 2024 at 2 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a one-storey house in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the house. They entered the structure and launched an offensive fire attack. However, conditions deteriorated, making it unsafe for firefighters to be inside. They exited the house and fought the fire from outside. Crews used hose lines to apply water to the fire and brought it under control at 12:44 p.m.

Firefighters removed one person from inside the house. They were assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital in unstable condition.

Damage estimates are not available at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
