Winnipeg, MB – At 1:12 a.m. on Monday, July 29, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a bungalow in the 800 block of Consol Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, light smoke was coming from the structure. They deployed a Flameguard X-Tinguish Fire Suppression Tool (FST). The aerosol device generates a mist that helps to suppress flames and reduce temperatures in order to allow for safer access. Crews used hose lines to finish putting the fire out and declared it under control at 1:49 a.m.
Residents of the home self-evacuated safely before crews arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was called to assist the displaced residents find temporary accommodations.
Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Preliminary observations suggestion the fire was accidental. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
