Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Manitoba Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:12 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey single-family house in the 800 block of Manitoba Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke coming from the structure. They entered and fought the fire from inside, declaring the fire under control at 7:00 a.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. There were no injuries reported.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was deployed to assist displaced residents find temporary accommodations.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
