Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Daylan Marshall Gate

Released: June 7, 2024 at 2:53 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:41 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, single-family house in the 100 block of Daylan Marshall Gate.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the house. They attempted to enter the house to fight the fire but were forced to retreat due to unsafe conditions. They fought the fire from the exterior until it was safe to enter and then transitioned to an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 9:40 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by paramedics at the scene, but did not require transport to hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by a failure in an electrical appliance. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
