Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Young Street

Released: June 6, 2024 at 9 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:14 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey, single-family home in the 500 block of Young Street.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke in the residence. They made entry to the house and fought the fire from the interior. They declared the fire under control at 5:38 p.m.

Firefighters completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported. Crews located a pet turtle in the house and brought it to safety.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
