Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Provencher Boulevard and Enfield Crescent

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to fires on Provencher Boulevard and Enfield Crescent Saturday morning.

Provencher Boulevard fire

At 3:25 a.m. WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a commercial building in the 100 block of Provencher Boulevard.

When crews arrived to the scene, they saw smoke coming from the building. They launched a fire attack and quickly put the fire out. It was declared under control at 3:48 a.m.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Enfield Crescent fire

At 4:01 a.m. WFPS crews responded to reports of a detached garage fire in the 400 block of Enfield Crescent.

When crews arrived on scene, the garage was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was extending to the home on the property, and a neighbouring garage. Firefighters launched a defensive attack, fighting the fire from outside. A ladder truck and hose lines were used to put the fire out. Once conditions improved, firefighters entered the structure to finish putting the fire out. It was extinguished by 5:35 a.m.

Residents of the home self-evacuated safely before crews arrived on scene. Firefighters completed a search of the structures and found two deceased cats. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
