Winnipeg, MB – At 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey multi-family residence in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the building. They entered and fought the fire from inside, declaring the fire under control at 7:28 p.m.
All occupants of the residence safely self-evacuated. No injuries were reported. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team was deployed to assist displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.
Firefighters completed a search of the building and two cats were located deceased.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
