Released: March 21, 2024 at 5:55 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:37 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a one-storey single-family home in the 200 block of Patrick Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke pouring out of the windows and flames threatening a neighbouring house. They launched a defensive fire attack, fighting the fire from outside. Once conditions improved, crews switched to an offensive strategy, and entered the house to finish putting the fire out. It was declared under control at 1:30 p.m.

Crews completed a search of both the house where the fire started, and the neighbouring house, and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The house where the fire started sustained smoke, water and fire damage. The neighbouring house sustained minor heat damage. No damage estimates are available at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
