Winnipeg, MB – At 9:25 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in an unoccupied one-and-a-half storey house in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the residence. They launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:51 a.m.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.
At 10:16 a.m., WFPS crews were called to a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Upon arriving to the scene, they found smoke in one of the suites. A small fire was quickly extinguished.
All occupants of the residence safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
Both fires remain under investigation. At this time, the two fires are not believed to be related.
