Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Redwood Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire in a one-and-a-half-storey house in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the house. Crews entered and launched an interior attack, using hoses to apply water to the fire. The fire was declared under control at 10:42 a.m.

All residents in the home safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. Crews rescued a dog from the scene and the City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency attended to provide care.

The City’s Emergency Social Services Team was deployed to help five residents find temporary accommodations.

The house sustained fire, smoke, and water damage. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
